The Beginning: A Dream and a Sketch
Every great journey begins with a single step. For Movable Roots, that step was a hand-drawn logo on a napkin. Fueled by a passion for minimalist living and a desire to create high-quality tiny homes, Mike and Nikki embarked on a mission to bring their vision to life. Our first project was the Henderson, a tiny home that encapsulated our vision and set the standard for our future builds.
Family Roots: Expanding the Team
Understanding that building a business takes a village, Mike and Nikki brought Mike's brother, John, into the fold. John's expertise and shared enthusiasm for the project helped Movable Roots expand and refine our offerings. Together, the trio formed a strong foundation for the company, blending creativity with technical know-how.
Expanding Horizons: Custom Park Model Homes
As we gained experience and confidence, we expanded our offerings to include custom park model homes. These homes allowed us to experiment with design and functionality on a larger scale while still maintaining the essence of tiny living. Each park model home we built was a testament to our commitment to innovation and quality.
Beyond Tiny Homes: Commercial Builds
Our journey didn’t stop at residential homes. We took on exciting commercial projects, including the food truck for Intracoastal Brewing Company. This venture allowed us to showcase our versatility and creativity in a different context, proving that our skills could be applied to a variety of building projects.
Achieving Certification: Florida Certified Modular Homes
One of our proudest milestones was becoming certified to build Florida Modular homes. This certification marked a significant step forward for Movable Roots, allowing us to offer permanent, foundation-based homes that meet stringent building codes and standards. These modular homes provide our clients with the best of both worlds: the innovative design and efficiency of tiny homes combined with the stability and durability of traditional homes.
Welcoming the Next Generation
The spirit of Movable Roots continues to grow stronger as Mike's son, Alex, joins the team. Alex brings fresh ideas and a youthful energy, ensuring that the vision and values of Movable Roots are carried forward. His involvement marks a new chapter in our story, blending the wisdom and experience of the founders with the innovation of the next generation. Alex was hired as the Production Manager, which has been beneficial for Mike, allowing him to concentrate on expanding the business.
Looking Ahead: A Bright Future
As we celebrate our anniversary, we are filled with gratitude for our journey so far and excitement for what lies ahead. Our team is dedicated to continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible in tiny home and modular home construction. We are eager to take on new challenges, explore new designs, and continue to provide our clients with homes that inspire and delight.
